How to Do a Burpee in 6 Easiest Steps

Burpees work out your whole body and are good for both strength training and aerobic fitness. To do a burpee correctly, follow these six simple steps:

1. Starting Position

Stand with your arms at your sides and your feet shoulder-width apart.

2. Downward Squat

Bend your knees and push your hips back to get into a squat position. Keep your chest up and your back straight.

3. Plant Hands on the Floor

In a squat, put your hands on the floor in front of you, shoulder-width apart, and point your fingers forward.

4.Jump Back to Plank Position

To land in a plank position, jump or step both feet back at the same time. Keep your body straight from head to heels.

5. Lower into Push-Up or Chest-to-Floor Position

Bend your arms and bring your chest down to the floor. If you want to, do a push-up. For beginners, you can skip this step and go straight to the next one.

6. Jump Forward and Stand Up

Jump or stride both feet forward towards your hands, landing softly with knees bent. Jump up explosively, arms overhead. Complete one rep by carefully landing back at the start.
